Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT SIZE DUMPSTER SHOULD I RENT?

Dumpsters are measured in “cubic yards” and “weight or tons”.  For example a 30 yd dumpster will hold 30 cubic yards of material.  The weight can vary greatly depending on the type of material.  General clean-up weighs much less than roofing material.

WHAT ARE THE STANDARD DUMPSTER SIZES?

10 Yard—Will hold about  5 “pick-up loads” of debris. Perfect for bathroom remodel, small kitchen remodel,  carpet removal, yard/garage clean-up, small roof shingle removal.

20 yard—Will hold about 10 “ pick-up loads” of material.  These are the most used dumpsters and work well for whole house renovation,  new construction, larger roofing jobs,  concrete, dirt, and bulky item clean-up(furnishings).

30 yard--- These dumpsters are for large jobs that are either to bulky for a
20 yard dumpster or for large jobs generating lots of material.  That’s 3 ten yard dumpsters in one trip, a much cheaper option for a big project.

40 yard—Believe it or not there are jobs that you just can’t get enough space. That’s when size does matter.

HOW DO I RENT A DUMPSTER?

Estimate the amount of Debris and waste material you will need to dispose of.  If you are unsure, speak with one of our customer service representatives and they can help you pick the right dumpster for you project.

Call us and speak with one of our customer service representatives about pricing and availability.

Schedule a delivery date and be sure to provide specific details about where you need the dumpster to be places on site. In most cases it is best to schedule as far in advance as possible because availability can become limited during busy times of the year.
Once the dumpster is full call us and let us know that you are ready for pick-up. In most cases we should be able to pick-up the full dumpster within 24 hours.

HOW AM I CHARGED FOR THE DUMPSTER?

Dumpster charges are based on size, weight, and time on site.  Unlike other companies there are no fuel surcharges, no environmental fees, no delivery charges, and no billing fees. In other words, NO HIDDEN CHARGES. The prices listed are the price you pay.

Make sure that when you are quoted a price it is a flat fee for a specific size, time, and weight. Otherwise you might be surprised when the bill comes due.

Each dumpster size has a fixed price that includes the delivery, pick-up, and disposal of an average amount of weight that the container should weigh, and an average amount of time that the dumpster needs to be on site to be filled.

Should the dumpster weigh more than the weight allowance included in the fixed price there would be an extra charge based on the amount of that overage at the time of disposal at the landfill. This charge is explained at the time of order and, if applicable, placed on the credit card when the dumpster is emptied.

Should you need more time than average to fill the dumpster you simply call our customer representatives and a daily fee will be assessed until the date that you chose for pick-up.

HOW FULL CAN I LOAD MY DUMPSTER?

When the dumpster is picked up, the driver must put a tarp over the load for safety during transport.  We ask that you don’t load any material above the top rails of the dumpster this might interfere with the tarp and be unsafe during transport. Try to keep the load evenly distributed and as flat as possible.  If for any reason the dumpster cannot be covered by a tarp or transported safely, you may have to unload some of the material in the dumpster before we can remove it from the site.
Additional charges may be assessed.

HOW MUCH CAN THE DUMPSTER WEIGH?

Even though the dumpster can weigh more than the weight allowance included in the Flat Pricing, there is a limit that the truck can legally haul on the roadway. If you are filling the container with dirt or concrete or even shingles you should discuss this with our customer service representative at the time of order. Dumpsters that exceed legal weight limit must be offloaded before they can be removed from the site.

WHAT IF MY DUMPSTER IS FULL AND I NEED ANOTHER?

Just give us a call and we can schedule an exchange of the full dumpster for a new one.

CAN ANYONE RENT A DUMPSTER?

Yes.  We rent dumpsters to home owners, home renters, businesses, contractors, lawn care professionals and realtors.

CAN YOU PLACE THE DUMPSTER ON THE STREET?

Yes. However for many streets and alleys a permit may be required. Check with the local police or city government to see if you need a permit for this placement.

DO I NEED TO BE THERE TO HAVE THE DUMPSTER DELIVERED?

No. When you pay by credit card before the dumpster is delivered you do not need to be at the site when the dumpster is delivered. However you should be very specific as to where you want the dumpster placed. The driver will make every effort to place the dumpster in the spot you choose but sometimes it is not possible for safety reasons. If that occurs the driver will choose the closest location for placement to your original request that the dumpster can be located.

WILL THE DUMPSTER DAMAGE MY DRIVEWAY?

As with all construction equipment there is a possibility of disturbing the site. This is a large item delivered by a truck and will weigh more when picked up than it did when it was delivered.  Most dumpsters have rollers on the back of the dumpster that will not damage the driveway. If you want to be double sure, simply place plywood down on the drive where the dumpster rollers contact and it will protect the surface when the dumpster is removed.  Remember this is a construction site.

WHAT CAN’T I PUT IN THE DUMPSTER?

The dumpster will be emptied into a landfill, you can’t put anything in the dumpster that is banned from landfill disposal. Check with our service representative or see or Acceptable Materials page if you think you might have an item that is prohibited.
Remember you will be responsible for additional charges if a banned item is found in the dumpster when it is emptied at the landfill.
